From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their status as important members in the powerful family could help the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Fans can expect learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
