A revitalized the Russian player won his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

Success also means Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the last five games to go ahead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

Moutet saved four early chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
